This product is so delicious, it deserves a page of it's own Sorry, this is the only photo I have of it. I hope it makes your mouth water!
I discovered Wild Rice Burgers at Grandma's Bar & Grill at Canal Park in Duluth. My husband and I were on our honeymoon, actually. I knew it was a non-meat burger when I ordered it, but the first bite had me fooled that it wasn't. It was delicious! I asked the waiter who their supplier was. I had to have some. He told me they make them right there in the restaurant. I was totally amazed. Lucky for me, I found their recipe on-line. I've tweaked it so much since I first found it, it doesn't resemble Grandma's burger at all.
As you see, my recipe doesn't include any eggs. I use flax meal mixed with water as the binder. The original recipe called for Panko bread crumbs which I eliminated, as well. I use gluten-free oatmeal which I process into a flour. I used my wheat bread crumbs when I first started making these, but then decided to elinmate those extra carbs. I wanted these to be gluten-free and vegan. I bake them so they are fully cooked and just need to be heated in your microwave, air fryer, in a skillet with some olive oil or even on the bbq grill. They should be cooked froom frozen state.. Put your favorite hamburger toppings on and enjoy! The burgers are $3.00 for a package of 2 1/4 oz. patties.
* * * I have discovered more uses for these burgers that have been delicious. I sauteed mushrooms and onions, added that to homemade gravy and topped the burger with it. Presto!. "Non-hamburger" steak and gravy. It was yummy and is now a favorite meal of ours.
Also, the burgers can be crumbled and added to cooked ground beef or ground turkey as an extender, or use them totally for a vegetarian dish. Using the plant based protein will lesson or eliminate the fat content of the ground meat in tacos, sloppy joes, or any ground meat dish. This makes me hungry just thinking about it!
I recently have made un-meat balls with the burger ingredients. They are ready to eat in your favorite sauce. A package of 6 is $3,00 1/4 # total weight.
